Biography

Following numerous occupations ranging from a London policeman to a waterski instructor on the Greek island of Corfu to managing director of a manufacturing company, Robert finally took the plunge to become an actor. Since then, his performance career has been multifaceted. Films include Voices Over the Water (release 2021), The Good Shepherd, The Thomas Crown Affair, A Fish Called Wanda, A View to a Kill, and Escape to Athena.  Robert has appeared on theatrical stages throughout the USA, Ireland, Japan, and the UK, including London’s West End (Beauty and the Beast, The Secret Policeman’s Ball, Foul Play) and New York City (Agamemnon at La MaMa, India Awaiting at the Samuel Beckett Theatre, Enchanted Wanderer at Avery Fisher Hall, and the Ensemble for the Romantic Century’s The Dreyfus Affair, Tolstoy’s Last Days, Heinrich Heine, The Trials of Oscar Wilde, Akhmatova, Jekyll and Hyde at Symphony Space). He has played Scrooge in A Christmas Carol many times in New York City.  Regional theatre performances include The Mystery of Attraction at The Actors Theatre of Louisville, South Pacific at the Hangar Theatre, Christmas Carol at Syracuse Stage, and Forget Herostratus, Jekyll and Hyde, and Pride & Prejudice at Bristol Riverside Theatre. Television appearances include All My Children, Guiding Light, and The Late Show with David Letterman. Robert has sung leading baritone roles in New York City (Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, La Traviata, Un Ballo in Maschera, Nabucco, Aida) and in Ireland at the Cork Opera House (Carmen and Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado and Pirates of Penzance). His most recent theatrical appearance was at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in the Ensemble for the Romantic Century’s AkhmatovaThe Heart is not Made of Stone. Robert has appeared in many TV commercials in addition to doing voiceovers for both radio and television. He has also narrated 72 audiobooks.
